These agreements were negotiated during the 2014 Donbass war. It is an agreement that was signed on 5 September 2014 by representatives of Ukraine, Russia, the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Its aim is to end the war in Donbass.

In 1900, [France]’s priority was to organize the Universal Exhibition and the Games were considered a side event. However, things evolved since then and all the recent presidents, Chirac, Sarkozy, Hollande and today Macron, mobilized themselves to obtain the Games for Paris. Indeed, Paris will host the Games in summer 2024.
